From Accounting to Product Design

Born in Hong Kong and raised in five cities, I moved to the U.S. by myself with just two suitcases at age 15. Being the first in my family to attend college, it was very important that I prioritize job security. So, I graduated with the safest degree possible, Accounting, became a CPA and went on to work for one of the Big Four accounting firms (KPMG), hoping that would make my family proud.

It did, and I did it for 8 years. Then COVID hit, I started to reflect on my life and realized I wasn't happy; what I was doing didn't align with where I envisioned myself in the future. I knew I needed a change but was completely stumped as to what direction to take. It wasn’t until I bumped into an old friend that I discovered the wonderful world of UX. There we go, that late-night conversation pretty much changed my life.

Do what you love

Today, as a Product Designer, I'm crafting digital experiences that empower others with a human-centered approach. I absolutely love harnessing and leveraging real-world complex data to innovate elegant solutions to prevalent issues. I'm also fortunate to be inspired and surrounded by motivated people who enjoy what they do.

Though I wasn't able to find fulfilment in my previous career, I'm eternally thankful for my time at KPMG as it taught me invaluable lessons about communication and collaboration. These are the skills that I carry with me to this day and apply to every project I work on.
